The roadside country store of Fred’s Famous Peanuts opened it’s doors over 40 years ago. In 1982, Fred and Dianne Jenkins started selling boiled peanuts in front of their home which is still located next to “Fred’s Famous Peanuts”. Through the many years, they created recipes and developed all the homemade products that the store sells today. In addition, they started selling crafts including stained glass and grapevine baskets which Dianne still makes today.
There is more to do at Fred’s Famous Peanuts than just enjoy the free samples they offer. Customers enjoy taking their picture with the old folks (life size soft sculptures) that are always sittin’ around the peanut shack or by the baskets full of flowers or the gravity fed waterwheel. Years ago and even today, you may even catch a quick game of racquetball on Famous Fred’s court. As we have said, “Fred’s Famous Peanuts” has “The Best Peanuts In The Mountains!” Whenever you are in the North Georgia Mountains, come by and see us sometime.
